Geo-INQUIRE Virtual Access:

Target audience: Geoscientist, Geologist, Hydrogeologist conducting applied research and/or public service projectsThe training is open to all researchers who are interested, including scientists and professionals at any career stage, as well as students and PhD candidates.

Scope: This online session intends to present the access to data and products for georesources exploration and exploitation with a focus on boreholes at national and local scales along with the related induced seismicity events (episodes). The EPOS Platform (European Plate Observing System) will be used for the hands-on exercises. In addition, several complementary community web map portals may be showcased:  Geological Survey of Italy portal, EPISODES platform and PITOP/ECCSEL operated by OGS.

Learning Goals: Discover the borehole web data services (view and download) in Europe through thematic descriptors on the EPOS platform | Discover national and local borehole datasets | Explore the linked data access to induced seismicity events (episodes)

Description:

Discover and view onshore and offshore boreholes using EPOS Data Portal contents and functionalities. The online training will include hands-on session:

  1. Exercise: Explore borehole types and descriptor using view and download services
  2. Exercise: Perform simple and advanced search
  3. Exercise: Cross-disciplinary interaction example; search for the boreholes (TCS GIM) located in the vicinity of one of the Italian episodes (TCS AH)

Agenda:

  • Presentation of data sets and data access on EPOS platform
  • Hands-on exercises
  • Feedback from the participants
  • Presentation of the community platforms
